Yorkshire Midwives on Call

Expect drama, emotion and tender moments as we follow the work of midwives delivering babies in people’s homes.

With privileged access, viewers will witness the creation of new families; our cameras are there before, during and after the birth throughout this unique five-part series.

The midwives are on call ‘24/7’ and specialise in homebirths but of course not everything goes to plan – in terms of timing or indeed the place of birth.

Requests for homebirths have increased during the pandemic with more women choosing to go through childbirth this way.

Viewers will get to know the team of six midwives from the Homebirth Midwifery unit at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The series follows expectant mums from all walks of life – from the city centre and suburbs of Bradford to the surrounding villages.

All of the home birth team are busy working mums themselves; when the phone from a labouring woman rings, they spring into action whatever time of day or night.

There’s plenty of tears and heart-warming moments when parents see their babies arrive – with a good helping of Yorkshire landscapes, warmth and humour along the way too.
