The Covid Contracts: Follow the Money
This compelling documentary for the BAFTA-winning Exposure strand tells the untold story of how the government went from having almost no stocks of PPE to having more than could ever possibly be used, and how some companies with little or no track record in supplying PPE or medical tests were given massive contracts and made a killing from Covid.
With access to hundreds of previously secret documents, emails and records, the film examines in forensic and comprehensive detail the decision-making which led to billions of pounds of wasted PPE being disposed of, and the failure of the Government’s costly test and trace programme to avoid a further lockdown. As the UK’s Covid-19 inquiry - the most expensive in our history - rumbles on largely unnoticed, the film asks how this all happened, and who was ultimately responsible.
