UK & International Documentary Films

Katy first entered the True Vision world in the summer 2000, mid-Slavery production, for work experience which just did not end..

The summer before I had graduated from Leeds University with a BA Hons in International History and Politics, and had spent the time inbetween working in most of the departments at Yorkshire Television in Leeds. Leaving student years and bouts of travel behind I started running on dramas like At Home with the Braitwaits, Touch of Frost and Emmerdale, working in post-production administration and doing some research in factuals.

Life at True Vision is like working in all those departments at once, only the office is smaller and there is more chance of live frogs or dead spiders appearing on your desk. Since then I been working on various development projects, as the researcher on Old, and on improving a technique know in the company as ‘creative accounting’ (for which I won an awards in 2001).

I had been at True Vision only a matter of weeks when I had one of my most difficult tasks. On our editors birthday I attempted to guess the age of everyone in the company, something which is very difficult when no one looks their true age, and even harder when you think there is no differentiation between anyone over 25 …. I think probably managed to flatter as well as insult, but I think I have been forgiven.

As well as True Vision, the freedom of expression magazine, Index on Censorship also had the pleasure of my services for two years. My work as a researcher / media monitor covered the grand landmass of Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe. Needless to say it kept me very busy.

My life long aim is to make a film with a certain environmental campaign journalist whom I should probably not mention by name on a website.
